Barack Obama, Internet Marketing and You

Added by Kevin B on Fri, Nov 14, 2008, 12:43 PM

This title could sound odd, and you may think the notions in it do not really have a lot to do with each other. However, we want to share something with you that would shed a light on something they have in common.

You may not like President-elect Barack Obama

You may not like his agenda or his policies. We are not here to make a political point. We want to be 100% politics free and want to focus on what we do best:

  • Save your business time and money through the power of our superior web based applications.

  • Create a solid web presence for you that gets you noticed, increases the number of your visitors who would buy from you over and over again as a result of our unmatched comprehensive on-line marketing strategy.

So why bring up Barack Obama?

After he got swept into the presidency by a landslide, all the pundits, the critics and the political experts came out with endless number of analysis that explained why and how he won. We have not seen a single one of the analysts actually explaining his victory from a pure Internet marketing standpoint. That is exactly what we intend to do.

In our opinion his success was greatly due to the fact that his campaign used almost every existing on-line presence strategy in the book. Why? The younger generation uses the Internet almost exclusively to:

  • find restaurants, movies, or friends, etc.
  • do research for a school projects
  • look up the world news.

The minds of the younger generation have been conditioned to use gadgets and widgets and they want the relevant information instantly. The business who most effectively delivers the information they are looking for will take their money and the rest can close shop and move on. This is exactly what happened during this campaign. One party did excellent on-line marketing and they won, the others were not so great and lost.

Why?

Almost 90% of new voters between the age of 18-25 voted for Barack Obama!

His campaign reached out to this generation through the Internet by using all the available technology:

  • blogs
  • forums
  • discussion panels
  • on-line videos
  • pay per click advertisement submission
  • on-line periodicals (e-zines)
  • viral marketing
  • and a host more

All these methods were great tools for building an on-line community, a database of supporters. The campaign's real secret weapon lied within its e-mail list. There was constant communication of the latest news and developments, instant answers to the opponent’s statements and all relevant information that helped the voters reinforce their decision they made when they signed up on his e-mail list.

This sounds great. But does this have anything to do with MY BUSINESS?

Absolutely!

These methods and tools above are part of any well crafted on-line marketing strategy. A sophisticated system can be utilized by your company and the sooner you recognize the importance of a well crafted on-line marketing strategy the further ahead you’ll be of your competition who is still trying to find its way out of the darkness in our current era of economic meltdown. The younger generation is here to stay and they want to have a say so.

They will “vote” for your business, too

We are not taking political sides here. However, we do want to stress that in the world of business and marketing a significant change is coming. Those who adjust to this change will prevail, those who do not will lose. Are you prepared?

“The one who adapts his policy to the times prospers, and likewise the one whose policy clashes with the demands of the times does not.” (Niccolo Machiavelli)

So what is this on-line community anyway?

We call it Web 2.0 You may have already heard about it. There are several different, often very complex definitions for it. We want to skip those because we want to provide simplicity while giving you substance. Let us make it very simple: It basically means that the content of the Internet is no longer made by web design companies, but by you, the website owner who has the power and the tools to change the content of their your website without the need of hiring an expert web design company.

Your website's content is also formed by your visitors...

...as they make comments, ask questions and submit their own views and stories related to the product and service that you advertise and sell. You as a blogger or an expert reader making a comment on some relevant blog, have a chance to voice your opinion, comment as an expert, and share your views with the rest of the community, thus forming the content of someone else's website. In this new way of communication you as a business owner can organically build your presence and create the much needed on-line trust and respect that is necessary to build from the moment your web presence starts to exist.
